What Is Good Development, and Why Don't We Have It?

Can we design new homes that meet the needs of a growing city without more outer-suburban sprawl?

What kinds of residential development should communities be advocating for around Brisbane, and how would best-practice sustainable design differ from what most developers are currently building?

Are for-profit high-rise developments really the answer to the housing affordability crisis?

Perhaps most importantly: WHY aren’t our governments insisting on better development outcomes from the private sector? How are so many developers getting away with such shoddy outcomes?

Come along to a free forum unpacking these questions with

  • Elizabeth Watson-Brown, federal MP for Ryan and Australian Greens spokesperson on Sustainable Cities (and former architect),
  • Michael Berkman, State MP for Maiwar and the Queensland Greens spokesperson on Planning and Development, and
  • Jonathan Sriranganathan, Councillor for the Gabba Ward of Brisbane City Council.

This event is taking place on the unceded lands of the Jagera and Turrbal peoples. Sovereignty was never ceded.
