Flighting for a total ban on gambling advertisements
Australians spend more, and lose more, on online gambling than any other country. This isn’t a gold medal to be proud of—it’s a national disgrace. Everyday Australians pay a huge price to line the pockets of the gambling industry. Every year, $31.5 billion is lost on legal gambling. But this government, every single time, gives in to the interests of corporations. They're selling our kids futures, and Australia's health and wellbeing.
Labor's new 'reforms' announced in April 2026 only restrict gambling advertisements under specific parameters, which will just shift the ads to other, non-restricted times and places.
Gambling companies profit off human suffering and addiction. Labor has completely broken their promise to ban gambling ads, ignoring the experts and desperate pleas from our communities. They’ve caved to the gambling lobby. And why? Because that lobby funnels millions of dollars in political donations to both Labor and the LNP.
This Labor Government is bought and paid for by the gambling industry. But it doesn’t have to be this way. The Greens want to ban political donations from gambling and other harmful industries, establish an Independent Gambling Regulator and ban all forms of gambling advertising. Join our campaign here.
