What a year it has been!
In May, I launched my Community Meal project at The Gap and Kenmore, and I’ve been overjoyed with how warmly these free weekly meals have been embraced by locals.
After receiving positive feedback from residents, I teamed up with Greens MP for Maiwar, Michael Berkman, and Councillor for Paddington Ward, Seal Chong Wah, to introduce a third weekly free feed at Auchenflower. Thousands of dishes have already been served at these regular events and other fetes, fairs, and functions I've supported. But there’s more than just food on offer - these gatherings are about neighbours meeting, socialising, and supporting each other.
Our final meal for 2024 will have a Christmas theme, so please feel welcome to join us as we pop a cracker and share some pudding! To help reduce waste, please bring your own plate and cutlery if possible. Gluten-free and vegan options will be available.
The meals will pause over the school holiday period to give my generous volunteers a well needed break, but my free pantry (located at my Taringa office) will remain open for anyone in need.
Merry Christmas,
Libby
