Let's make education work for all children

Every child deserves a good education. Without it, they can't possibly thrive as an adult. Sadly, the education system is failing many children - especially children who are neurodiverse or have disabilities. 

This forum is for parents of children who are being let down by the education system. It's an opportunity to talk about what needs to change - and to develop a plan of action. 

I'm inviting parents of children who've been let down by our education system to contribute to a discussion about what needs to change to make the education system work for all of our children.

Priorities for change

Families with lived experience are the experts in what their kids need. Some of the families that have contacted my office about this issue have put together a document that captures problems with the system, and proposes solutions.

Before we gather, I'm asking all families to read, and contribute to that document by Monday 22 April. My team and I will collate the information and display it in the room as a discussion starter at the event.

Greens Senator for Queensland Penny Allman-Payne will join us to share a federal perspective, and to help us collectively shape a plan for action, based on the priorities for change from the discussion. 

I hope this process will also allow families who can't attend the event to contribute to this discussion. 

Doors will open at 9.45am for a 10am start. 

Agenda
