Streets for people!

You're invited to join me and my team in Nicholas Park in The Gap for a sausage sizzle and a community chat about how we work towards walkable neighbourhoods and sustainable cities!

For many years now, the dominant focus of city design has been cars, not people. Unfortunately, that means roads are getting more and more congested, and less safe. As a result, only 25% of children walk or cycle to school, compared with 75% in the 1980s. We need to reverse that trend!

Locals in The Gap have made me aware of a number of unsafe roads and paths in the neighbourhood, especially around the schools, and we’ve identified some projects that would make The Gap safer to walk. I’d love to share them with you and to hear from you about other ways we can make our streets better for everyone.

Bring the whole family for a sausage sizzle, some fresh air and a community conversation about winning safe streets!
