Australia is still the 2nd biggest exporter of fossil fuels in the world. The major parties give $1 billion a month in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations. Meanwhile, more than half of those companies pay no tax.

When the Greens were last in balance of power, we worked with the government to cut climate pollution, secure world-leading climate laws and invest billions in clean energy.

The Greens will fight to:

• Invest in a large rollout of publicly owned renewable energy and support homeowners and businesses with grants for solar and batteries.
• Stop the expansion of new coal and gas projects, and instead rapidly expand mineral mining and processing of green metals.
• Stop the handouts of public money to fossil fuel corporations.
• Strengthen our environment laws to end native forest logging and save koalas and other wildlife from extinction.

Our policies are fully costed by the independent Parliamentary Budget Office, and would be funded by making billionaires and big corporations pay their fair share in tax.
